Bet365 Bet Builder and the Terms Around It

Live slips are full of short labels that assume you already know what they mean. Each entry here gives a definition and then a tiny example, so the words stop being a barrier.

HOW TO USE THIS PAGE

Start with Bet Builder, then work outwards

Bet Builder lets you join several selections from a single event into one bet, and bet365 lists it on its cricket hub. Because every selection must succeed, the combined price is larger than any single price, and the chance of winning is smaller. Most of the other words on this page describe either how prices are written or how a bet ends. Read the first group for the language of a slip, the second for the rarer terms.

BET BUILDER IN FOUR PARTS

Anatomy of a combined bet

The same example is split into pieces so you can see where the price comes from. The numbers are illustrative only.

  • Leg one: match result

Your chosen side to win, quoted at 1.80. Alone, a 100-unit stake would return 180.

  • Leg two: total goals

Over 2.5 goals, quoted at 1.90. Alone, the same stake would return 190.

  • Combined price

Multiplying gives roughly 3.42, though a builder may price related legs differently because they influence each other.

  • Outcome

Both legs must happen. If one fails, the whole bet loses, even when the other came in.

THE LANGUAGE OF A SLIP

Everyday terms

These are the words you will meet on nearly every live slip. Learn them first.

What are decimal odds?

A way of writing a price as the total return per unit staked. At 2.50, a 100-unit stake returns 250 including the stake.

What is a stake?

The amount you place on a bet. It is the money at risk, and it comes back only if the bet wins.

What is a selection?

One outcome you pick inside a market, such as a team to win.

What is a market?

A question about the event with several possible answers, for example the result or the number of goals.

What is a suspended market?

A market temporarily closed to new bets while the price is updated, often after a major incident.

What is a bet slip?

The panel where your selections and stake are shown before you confirm.

THE LESS COMMON WORDS

Settlement and structure terms

These words matter once you start combining selections or reading how a bet is settled.

What is a leg?

One selection inside a combined bet. All legs must win for the whole bet to win.

What is a void bet?

A bet cancelled under the market rules, with the stake returned, for example when a match is abandoned.

What is a push?

A tie against the line, such as a total landing exactly on the number. The stake is usually returned.

What is a correlated selection?

Two selections that tend to happen together. A builder may price them differently from separate bets.

What is a margin?

The built-in difference between a fair price and the price offered. It is how the operator earns.

What is an accumulator?

A bet joining selections from different events, such as two separate matches. Bet Builder differs because all its legs come from one event.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Reading one slip from top to bottom

Follow this made-up slip from top to bottom to see where each of the terms above sits.

  • The top line

Names the event and market, such as full-time result. Always confirm it matches what you meant.

  • The middle

Lists each leg with its decimal price and the combined figure.

  • The stake box

Shows what you will pay and what you could collect. Compare both.

  • The footer

May show a Cash Out figure once the bet is open, which changes with the event.

When a term is not on this page
STILL UNSURE

When a term is not on this page

Different markets add their own words. The market rules inside your account are the final authority.

  • Read the market rules

Each market has a rules panel that defines its terms exactly.

  • Check the leg list before confirming

If a combined price looks odd, open each leg on the slip. A leg removed or re-priced by the builder changes the total.

READER QUESTIONS

Questions about Bet Builder

Short answers to the points readers raise most about combined bets.

Why is the builder price not simply multiplied?

Related legs affect each other, so the operator adjusts the combined price.

Can one leg lose and the bet still win?

No. Every leg must be correct, and a single failed leg ends the whole bet as a loss.

Are all Bet Builder markets available on every match?

No. Availability differs by event, and this site cannot list it.

Is it riskier than a single bet?

Generally yes, because more must go right.

Is there any trick that makes it safe?

No. Be cautious of anyone who claims otherwise.
